When you're planning a road trip you can benefit greatly by planning your fuel stops ahead of time; take for example, the 1,500 mile stretch between the start of the Alaska Highway and the city of Fairbanks, or the 559 miles from one side of Montana to the other. If you run out of gas in a remote area far from the nearest gas station, it's going to take a serious bite out of your day to get filled up.
